1. yes, meravie. and when you vehemently defend your friendship with her, stating that you feel you can still be friends with her and find her to be a cool, fun person while not agreeing with her “politics”, and you are not constantly trying to educate her, you excuse her racism, which by the way you will never experience.never mind that when you made friends with her, her open and horrible racism was not a new thing. at all. you are not her only victim, and you are also a white victim, which again means you are not getting the full spectrum of her bullying tactics. do you know how galling it is to see you chat away with her like nothing’s ever happened—and then your only acknowledgment that her very presence makes people feel unsafe is to tag her rather than actually pay attention to the fact that your friendship with her makes you unsafe by proxy. 

please just try this, okay? just imagine that some vicious cissexist has chased you down the street and whatever else that might make you feel freaked out and unsafe. now imagine that someone you thought you could trust has brought that cissexist to a party you’ve been invited to, and rather than asking your attacker to leave, it’s you that’s forced to go home for your own safety. would you stay friends with the person who felt it was okay to bring your attacker? it doesn’t matter if they didn’t know when they made friends (although in your case, you could not have not known); if you tell this person and they apologize but carry on being friends with your attacker, they clearly don’t give a shit about your wellbeing, and are more interested in staying friends with a known bigot. 

i’m already put off that you chose to focus on the casual use of the term ‘bffs’ rather than the fact that you are on friendly terms with a goddamn racist.

2. you may realize it, but does that mean you’ll actually stop? that’s what i and many other poc need to hear. this is sort of in the same theme that actions speak louder than words.

I also agree with my past self that silent condemnation does nothing, but the problem that my past self did not forsee- but that I have spoken about more recently- this is not a party. If I call out someone, I have to be aware that I have nearly a thousand people following me, and that people are not nice on the internet.

Honestly, this is a pointless conversation because you have no idea what you’re talking about how I feel and interact with Meravie because you’ve never seen 90% of it. (And there are things that neither I nor she can or will talk about because you know, that would directly put her in harms way. Not from my followers particularly, but from hers. I think we both know the sort of scum that follow her. One example would be how she is so cagey about talking about her experiences as a poc and the day-today racism she faces because instant bullshit from her end.)

Also the reason I didn’t address your calling her a racist is because I think it’s pretty cut and dried that she’s been racist. We’ve spoken and she’s working on not doing that anymore, but that’s beside the point and also not something I can really comment on much, being as how she’s a poc and I’m a white person.

2. I am going to stop. I’m wanting to emphasise the fact that I can’t just say “Ok I’ll not be racist now” and not be racist, and yeah, state that I intend to stop and then actually put effort in to do just that.

I was cleaning out my CC and noticed I have a folder named “hupsoonheng” (I’m… anal with organisation of cc folders) with some amazing recoloured jeans in and just wondered if that was you.
